Photoshop
To edit all of my pictures I took for my digipak I used Adobe Photoshop as it is the best and most developed software. I found photoshop quite difficult at first as it can be confusing as there are so many different things you can do and I never knew what tools did what and which button to press. But once I got the hang of it it was very useful as I was able to use a range of different effects on the pictures I took like creating effects with brush tools and manipulating colours etc. . However on the school computers Photoshop was lagging and it was difficult to use so we had to use it on our computer at home. I used photoshop for my digipak and digipak poster and used many different tools on it to create the best effects on my pictures. I used the 3D effect on the guitar case to make it more interesting. I did this by duplicating the layer twice and turning them different colours then moving one to the left and one to the right. I then got the picture of the guitar amp and placed it on top of the guitar case. After that I cut strips out of the amp revealing the guitar case underneath. To create the inside cover of my digipak I used the guitar case again and then put a black layer on top of that. I then wrote the band name on top and used various different splats around it. I then hovered my mouse between the two layers and pressed alt which then made the guitar case visible through the writing and the splats.

Camera

To take the pictures for my digipak I used a Nikon SLR camera as they are easily accessible and they are decent cameras for taking pictures as the images come out as a good quality. These cameras are good as they have lots of settings on them so you can change the aperture, the shutter speed and focus. The images are easy to get off the camera as they store on an SD card which you can then put into a card reader on the computer. I found the camera easy to use as they are pretty straight forward to use as they don't have lots of settings or anything, you could just turn it on and take a picture. My digipak pictures came out really well due to the good quality of the camera. The manual focus was useful as the auto focus wasn't focusing properly so I had to do it by hand which was probably better anyway as you can get the focus exactly how you want. I didn't use the zoom on the camera as when you zoom in the picture goes more grainy and not as good quality. I had the change the aperture settings as it was quite a sunny day so I didn't want the camera to take in so much light.
